I love how they have turned out. I still have two more to do, they should be done by the end of this week. I had so much fun with this that I will be back next year for sure. Hopefully with even more hats, I will be working on them throughout this next year.
I’m going to share something with you. I have decided to stop dying my hair and go gray for good! Ive been dying my hair for at least 26 years, I started going gray at 16. I’ve had lots of encouragement to go for it and a few tell me I should wait a few more years I’m too young. I figure now is the best time, my hair is short and grows fast. The worst thing that can happen is I hate it and dye it back. Right?

How big is your biggest hook?

I’m usually not one to go for an impulse buy, unless it’s on sale or clearance. Okay so I do impulse buy. But today my buy was really unexpected. So I’m perusing the yarn isles at the craft store looking for yarn for a blanket. I think I went up and down those two isles at least 5 times. Looking for the right yarn, and the right color. Making sure they had enough skeins in the same dye lot. I know you’ve been there. Then it caught my eye. How did I miss this the last 4 times I went down this isle. There it was, a huge wooden crochet hook. What? Where has this been my crocheting life? These really exist? How could I have never seen this before? I had to have it. What would I use it for? What will I make with it? Who knows…just buy it. I still have no idea what I’m going to do with it, but it’s all mine.
Anybody out there have a 19mm or bigger hook? Tell me, show me what you’ve done.
This is it next to my Q hook.

I wanted to share a recipe with you as well. I found this roast recipe on Pinterest. I made it a couple of weeks ago and it was absolutely wonderful. It takes an inexpensive cut of meat and cooks it at a low temperature for several hours. What you get is a tender juicy roast. Here is mine after it was done.

It was easy, and made enough for several meals. If you try it let me know how you enjoyed it.

Arm knitting a blanket, it didn’t work

I’ve seen these wonderfully comfy cozy arm knit blankets all over Pinterest. Here is one example. I felt like I could just wrap myself in it with a cup of cocoa and watch some movies.
Friday night I went and picked out my yarn, and started working on it.

As I worked I could not wait to wrap it around me.
Disappointment set in when I finished. It’s not a blanket, it’s a net, for a fisherman.

When I put it over me one arm went through a hole and my freezing feet went through another. I was not even close to feeling warmer.

I started to rip I out and now am crocheting with a Q hook another warmer blanket. I have a lot of this yarn. Maybe I’ll give a arm knit scarf a try.

The Docs Hat

By day, M-F, 5 days a week, I’m an ophthalmic technician. I mostly work in the clinic with two outstanding doctors and 1 to 2 times a week I go up to the O.R. with one or the other.
A few weeks ago I was looking at the doctors surgical hat and thought, those colors are great. I think I have all those colors in glass, I’m going to make some beads. I got closer to her took the picture below. I finally got around to making the beads.
I love how they turned out. Whatcha think?

Where has the weekend gone?

One of my coworkers just had a baby this past week. Congratulations to them! They had a beautiful baby girl and I made them this blanket.

I have seen this blanket all over Pinterest and went looking for the pattern so I could make it for them. Finding the pattern proved to be a little difficult. All the pictures on Pinterest that I came across were just links to the picture. Perseverance paid off and I found the original pattern here . It’s in French and I used google translate to help me. I also found one in English here.
I am very happy with how it turned out.
The other part of their gift is I made them about 4-5 meals (some recipes to follow). Having a newborn is so much work, I hope it takes some of the pressure off of them.
I also was able to get some beads done as well, oh the joy. The weather was warm during the day so I didn’t freeze in my garage. Here are a few that I made.

Those will be going up in my Etsy shop hopefully this week.
So tomorrow is Monday, back to work I go. Maybe I can get some rest there lol.

Long weekend joy!

I had a wonderful thanksgiving with my family, relaxed, and took care of many things off of my to do list.

I made a few more baby hats, finished a class I’ve been putting together, made beads, did some cooking, breathed in fresh air and enjoyed the warm sunny days. Oh, and I relaxed and watched TV.
I have for forgotten how much peace I feel when I’m out at my torch creating. I will post pictures soon of the beadies I made today.
I feel accomplished (big sigh).
So, what do you do that makes your soul happy?
