WOW from the kiln

Here we are one week into the first year. For me, so far so good. I’m getting back into the groove at work after the holidays. I will say, I do miss sleeping in. The kids too are finding their heads to get back into school.
I just had to share these beads I pulled out of my kiln. I was looking through some pages of bead pictures that I have from 2002-2003 off of the internet. There is so much inspiration from lampworkers back then. Don’t get me wrong there is a lot out there now too. What is being creating is truly amazing. Back 12-13 years ago there wasn’t as much knowledge, tutorials, and resources available. Anyway, I came across a page with a truly stunning set of beads, and that is what inspired the ones in the picture.
I’m so happy with how these turned out. Now I have to decide do I keep them for myself, or share them and make more.

The gray journey

As I mentioned in an earlier post I’m growing out my hair. No more color. I’m in the midst of the awkward stage. If you look at me just right you can see all my grays peeking through. Those who don’t know me give me funny looks at my head. You know the ones, they look at you in your eyes and then look at the top of your head as you’re talking to them.
I’ve been on Pinterest seeing how short I’m willing to go. I think I have about 1-2 months before I can even think about chopping it all off.
This is where I am now.

Wow what a big head. Lol

I made this recipe (from Pinterest) the other night and wanted to share it with you. I added more peppers than what was called for, and I also transferred my potatoes to a bowl and used the same pan to cook the rest of the ingredients. Super fast, easy, inexpensive, and edible. It made enough for me and two teens. Yup, they ate it up too. This is my picture, but hers is much prettier.

Whew, I made it

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and New Year. My new year was celebrated quietly at home.
I did think about my resolutions but decided to call them goals instead. Goals can be adjusted and modified as needed. My goal list is long but I will share 3 of them with you.
1. Have at least 3 jewelry designs and start selling them in my Etsy store Wish me luck. Been wanting to do this for years.
2. Blog, and keep up with it. This can be difficult, I tend to be a private person.
3. Declutter and organize. Yup, you now know one of my little secrets. I hold on to things that are just not necessary.

As I was strolling the pages of Pinterest. I saw this pin.. Check out this whole site, she has some great stuff there.
What a great idea. A word for the whole year. I looked through her list, she has some wonderful words. Me being me, I wanted something a little different. My word for the year is…BASK. Defined: To bask in something is to take it in, receive its warmth, or bathe in its goodness.
I will be basking in this year and all that it has to offer me.
So tell me, what’s your word or phrase for the year? I’d love to hear from you. Yes, YOU.
