Grayness Continues

Keeping up with this blog stuff is a tad more difficult than I had anticipated.  When I’m at work, at the store, or pinning , I think to myself I should blog about that, or this.  Then I get home and my life gets the best of me.  Fix dinner, clean up,  pin some more on Pintrest those boards, play a game or 15. Next thing I know it’s 11 and I have to get up at 530 am.  I’m not saying I don’t have the time, I’m saying when I have the time other things take priority, and not necessarily more important things.  Pinning, really?  Love to look at Pintrest, I get lost on Pintrest.  Anyway, then as I’m pinning away I think I haven’t blogged, I should blog.  You started this, let’s keep going, oh WAIT there’s a very berry cheesecake salad.  Cheesecake Salad!?! Blogging who? Blog what?  The struggle is real people.

Alright as the title states the grayness continues.  Now my hair is growing out  all those people who gave me their ideas on what I should do with my hair are saying, “you know I really wasn’t too sure about your hair,  but I like it looks good on you”.  I can say I really like how it looks and how it is turning out.  The best compliment to date was  from a 20 something, he looked right at me and said, “oh wow, I like your hair”. Thank you, young man.  Here is my growth so far.
The dates on those photos are the top one is January 6, exactly one month after I dyed my hair for the last time. The middle is March 20 and the bottom was May 22.

National Crochet Month

I just found out this morning that March is National Crochet Month. All these years I never new. I know now and to celebrate this I’m going to share with you the baby blanket that I am working on. I got the pattern for this beautiful blanket here. Instead of starting with a chain of 62, I wanted the blanket a little bigger so I started with a chain of 92. I love the ease of this pattern. I can’t wait to show you the finished blanket with the boarder.

As I grow my gray out I’ve had some strange looks and funny comments while at work. My favorite was, “what in the heck did you do to your hair? I looks….interesting”. Lol. I’m happy with how it’s coming along. I have just one more cut to go and all my hair will be natural. I have gone shorter than I wanted, but I like it, it’s fun, funky, and pretty easy to take care of.
Here’s my progress.

My weekly post

I told myself, and you, I wanted to post at least once a week in February. Here I am, 11:30 Sunday night putting together my post.
I went back to the Wetlands Park and just wandered around. I bird watched, listened to the wind through the reeds, took many deep breaths, and even got a bit of sunburn. The weather here in Las Vegas has just been incredibly warm and beautiful.

I’ve been frustrated the past couple of weeks with my hair and going gray. This in between stuff (at least for me) is the worst. My short hair still kinda covers the gray , but you can see the gray underneath. I really feel that once I get all of the color out of my hair and really get the gray growing it will look great.
I was telling a coworker last week that I am growing out my gray. She said, oh, why would you do that?
I commented that I am ready to just be done with color and let my natural color shine. Her response…hmmmm well, if you don’t like it you can color over it. Lol. Don’t let others discourage you. Own it and love it. I’m trying to in my awkward growing out phase.

The month in review

I can’t believe we are now in the second month of the year. My last post was 3 weeks ago. What in the heck have I been doing?
Working, working hard at my day job. Folks need surgery and glasses and I’m here to help with that.
Finished a blanket I’ve been working for a Christmas present for a friend. I’ve been so busy have not had a chance to deliver it.
I had quite a few bead sessions at my torch, needing/wanting to fit in more .

I’ve been working on my metal work and designing a new line of jewelry hopefully to start selling by June of this year. What do you think?

Growing my gray out, and it’s coming along quite nicely. I’m figuring by the end of this month (February) I should be all gray with a short pixie.

Had a bellydance performance, and had three weeks to learn the choreography. Many practices to fit in my already tight schedule. I’m not really a dancer so it takes me a bit (forever) to learn the steps.
I put a down payment on a kiln I have been wanting for 5 years. WooHoo!
Went to the Wetlands park here in Las Vegas and was amazed by all the beauty, wildlife, and tranquility. Can’t wait to come back. We are not all casinos and shows here.

Started a stunning new tattoo with a desert humming bird and cherry blossoms yesterday. Jake is a true artist. It’s a little out of my comfort zone (due to placement) but I knew it would be. All the little details will be added in a couple of weeks.

Lastly, I ended this incredible month going to see Sinbad… He is still funny as ever. If you have a chance to see him, GO, you will be laughing the whole time. Really enjoyed that show.
Whew. I think that’s most of it. I assure you I was not sitting around wondering why I have nothing to do.
Goal for this next month is to try to post at least once a week. STAY TUNED!

The gray journey

As I mentioned in an earlier post I’m growing out my hair. No more color. I’m in the midst of the awkward stage. If you look at me just right you can see all my grays peeking through. Those who don’t know me give me funny looks at my head. You know the ones, they look at you in your eyes and then look at the top of your head as you’re talking to them.
I’ve been on Pinterest seeing how short I’m willing to go. I think I have about 1-2 months before I can even think about chopping it all off.
This is where I am now.

Wow what a big head. Lol

I made this recipe (from Pinterest) the other night and wanted to share it with you. I added more peppers than what was called for, and I also transferred my potatoes to a bowl and used the same pan to cook the rest of the ingredients. Super fast, easy, inexpensive, and edible. It made enough for me and two teens. Yup, they ate it up too. This is my picture, but hers is much prettier.

10 of the baby caps done!

Here they are.

I love how they have turned out. I still have two more to do, they should be done by the end of this week. I had so much fun with this that I will be back next year for sure. Hopefully with even more hats, I will be working on them throughout this next year.
I’m going to share something with you. I have decided to stop dying my hair and go gray for good! Ive been dying my hair for at least 26 years, I started going gray at 16. I’ve had lots of encouragement to go for it and a few tell me I should wait a few more years I’m too young. I figure now is the best time, my hair is short and grows fast. The worst thing that can happen is I hate it and dye it back. Right?
